About

Laura DeHaan graduated from Sutherland-Chan in 2006 and was a registered massage therapist for 16 years, honing their skills with reflexology and craniosacral techniques. When the pandemic began in 2020, they, like many others, had a lot of time to think about the direction their career was going and in 2022 they became a licensed crematorium operator. They shortly thereafter ended their membership with the CMTO and now work part-time as a masseuse at Living Waters Therapies and part-time at St. John’s Norway Cemetery and Crematorium.

Since becoming a masseuse, they’ve expanded their massage repertoire to include Himalayan salt massage (like hot stone massage, but with polished chunks of heated Himalayan salt) and gua sha.

Feel free to ask them about their other job! The business side of death is generally seen as scary and taboo to discuss, so they are more than happy to answer those ‘weird’ questions (don’t worry, it’s not a weird question) and demystify the process.
